Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the QRench mobile app ("QRench", "the app"), made and published by Knowledge Channels Technologies ("we", "us", "our"). By installing or using QRench, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Licence

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use QRench on devices you own or control, for your own lawful use. All intellectual property in QRench, including its name, logo, design and code, stays with Knowledge Channels Technologies.

You may not reverse engineer, decompile, redistribute, resell, or make derivative works from the app, except where applicable law does not allow this restriction.

3. Acceptable use

You are responsible for the content you put in QR codes, for the codes you print and share, and for how you use the app. You agree not to use QRench to:

• break any law that applies to you, including laws on encryption and steganography;
• make, hide or distribute unlawful, harmful or infringing content;
• deceive, defraud or harm others — for example, to send people to harmful websites — or violate anyone's rights or privacy;
• put other people's personal information, such as their contact details, in a QR code without their permission.

4. Your data and passwords

QRench stores everything on your phone. We have no servers, so we cannot restore anything. Android backup is off, so your Library is deleted when you uninstall the app or change phones.

The password of a secret is never stored. If you forget it, the secret is permanently unrecoverable.

5. Security and reliability

A secret without a password is hidden, not encrypted. Anyone with QRench can read it. For anything personal, set a strong password and share it privately.

A secret with a password is encrypted with AES-256-GCM. Its protection depends on the strength of the password: anyone with a picture of the QR code can try passwords as often as they want.

No method of hiding data is perfectly secure or undetectable. A damaged, small or poorly printed QR code, or a poor picture of one, may not give its secret. Do not rely on QRench where the discovery or the loss of a secret could harm you or others.

6. No warranty

QRench is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, security, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet your requirements.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by applicable law, Knowledge Channels Technologies is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, loss of privacy, unrecoverable secrets or passwords, or the discovery of a secret, that come from your use of, or inability to use, QRench.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

8. Price and purchases

QRench is free to download and use. A future version may offer optional premium features for a one-time purchase. QRench does not and will not use subscriptions.

Purchases are made through Google Play and are also subject to Google Play's terms, including its refund policies.

9. Third-party services

QRench is distributed through Google Play and reads QR codes with Google's ML Kit. Your use of them is governed by Google's own terms and policies. QRench has no advertising and no analytics of its own.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms. When we do, we will change the effective date and publish the new Terms before they take effect. If you continue to use QRench after an update, you accept the new Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes about these Terms or your use of QRench are subject to the courts of Malaysia.
