The short version
- Stesh is provided as-is, for lawful personal use. You are responsible for what you hide and share.
- Messages without a password are obfuscated, not strongly secret. Use a password for anything sensitive.
- If you lose your password, your message cannot be recovered — by you or by us.
- We don't guarantee a hidden message can never be detected. Don't rely on Stesh where discovery could cause you harm.
- The app is free. Any future premium features will be a one-time purchase — never a subscription.
1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Stesh mobile application ("Stesh", "the app"), developed and published by Knowledge Channels Technologies ("we", "us", "our"). By installing or using Stesh, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
2. Licence to use the app
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Stesh on devices you own or control, for your own lawful use. You do not acquire ownership of the app, and all intellectual property in Stesh — including its name, logo, design, and code — remains with Knowledge Channels Technologies.
You may not reverse engineer, decompile, redistribute, resell, or create derivative works from the app, except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law.
3. Acceptable use
You are solely responsible for the content you encode, decode, store, and share using Stesh, and for how you use the app. You agree not to use Stesh to:
- break any law or regulation that applies to you, including laws governing the use, import, or export of encryption and steganography software;
- create, conceal, or distribute unlawful, harmful, or infringing content;
- harass, deceive, or harm others, or violate anyone's rights or privacy.
Some jurisdictions restrict the use of encryption or message-hiding tools. It is your responsibility to ensure your use of Stesh is lawful where you are.
4. Your data, passwords, and originals
Stesh is fully offline and stores nothing on our servers — we have none. Everything you create stays on your device. This also means we cannot help you recover anything.
Encryption keys for password-protected messages are derived from your password and are never stored or transmitted. If you forget a password, the message protected by it is permanently unrecoverable. Keep your own backups of important originals and remember your passwords.
5. Security disclaimer
Stesh hides messages inside images using least-significant-bit steganography and encrypts them with AES-256. Messages encoded without a password are protected by a key derived from the image itself — this provides obfuscation, not strong secrecy, and could be recovered by a determined party who has the image and analyses the app. For anything genuinely sensitive, always set a password.
No method of hiding or encrypting data is perfectly secure or perfectly undetectable. We make no guarantee that a hidden message cannot be detected, extracted, or decrypted by a third party. Do not rely on Stesh in situations where the discovery of a message could put you or others at risk.
6. No warranty
Stesh is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, security, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your requirements.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Knowledge Channels Technologies will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, loss of privacy, unrecoverable messages or passwords, or the discovery of a hidden message, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) Stesh — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
8. In-app purchases
Stesh is free to download and use. Future versions may offer optional premium features unlocked by a one-time purchase. Stesh does not and will not use subscriptions.
Any purchases are processed by Google Play and are also subject to Google Play's terms. Refunds, where available, are handled in accordance with Google Play's refund policies. A premium unlock applies to your Google account in line with Google Play's purchase rules.
9. Third-party services
Stesh is distributed through Google Play and, where you make a purchase, uses Google Play Billing. Your use of those services is governed by Google's own terms and policies. Aside from Google Play, Stesh integrates no third-party services, advertising, or analytics.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and make the updated Terms available before the change takes effect. Your continued use of Stesh after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Stesh will be subject to the courts of that jurisdiction.
